Furthermore, Vitamin D3 has also been reported to have relationship with the mentioned complications. Te aim is to evaluate the correlation between Vitamin D3 level and extrahepatic manifestation in chronic HCV patients. Materials and Methods: Tis cross?sectional study has been carried out on 90 patients
with chronic hepatitis C. Te level of Vitamin D3 was assessed in plasma of 90 patients with chronic HCV. Genotyping was done and clinical and sign and symptoms of recruited patients were gathered. Extrahepatic anifestations were evaluated and the correlation of blood, hepatic, and immunological factors and the level of Vitamin D3 were assessed. Results: Most of our patients were male (92% vs. 8%). Twenty?nine percent had the insufcient amount of Vitamin D3 (21–30 ng/ml), and the remains had the
Vitamin D3 level between 13–20 ng/ml. Furthermore, our assessment demonstrated that defciency of Vitamin D3 was associated with the extrahepatic manifestations such as purpura (odds radio [OR] [95% confdence interval (CI) 95%] = 8.80 [1.74–44.47], P = 0.004), vasculitis (OR [95% CI] = 11.70 [3.01–45.41], P < 0.001), arthralgia (OR [95% CI] = 20.26 [4.21–97.47], P < 0.001), myalgia (OR [95% CI] = 4.00 [1.01–17.27], P = 0.048), and glomerulonephritis (P = 0.021). Conclusions: According to our results, the extrahepatic manifestation in the patients with sufcient levels of Vitamin D3 would be less possible. In fact, it could be stated that defciency in the Vitamin D3 can have a signifcant relationship with these manifestations.
<web_url>http://jrms.mui.ac.ir/index.php/jrms/article/view/10768</web_url><pdf_url>http://jrms.mui.ac.ir/index.php/jrms/article/download/10768/5608</pdf_url>

<Journal><PublisherName></PublisherName><JournalTitle>Journal of Research in Medical Sciences</JournalTitle><Issn>1735-1995</Issn><Volume>23</Volume><Issue>3</Issue>
<Year>2018</Year><Month>03</Month><Day>19</Day>
</Journal>
Association between oral lichen planus and Epstein–Barr virus in Iranian patients
<FirstPage>10769</FirstPage><LastPage>10769</LastPage>
<AuthorList>

</AuthorList><History>
<Year>2018</Year><Month>03</Month><Day>18</Day>
</History>
Background: Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a common mucocutaneous disease with malignant transformation potential. Besides their therapeutic potency, some of the medicinal plants have strong toxicity in human, especially in children and elderly. Despite common beliefs that natural products are safe, there have been few reports on their toxicities. In the present study, we aimed to systematically review the literature wherein acute plant poisoning and herbal intoxication have been reported in pediatric patients. After literature search and selection of the appropriate documents, the desired data were extracted and described qualitatively. A total of 127 articles with overall 1453 intoxicated cases were collected. Te results of this study showed that some medicinal plants can cause acute poisoning and complications such as hepatic and renal failure in children. Te fndings of this survey showed that acute plant poisoning can be life?threatening in children, and since a single?ingested dose of toxic plants can cause acute poisoning, parents should be aware of these toxic e?ects and compare the side e?ects of self?medication with its potential benefts.
<web_url>http://jrms.mui.ac.ir/index.php/jrms/article/view/10770</web_url><pdf_url>http://jrms.mui.ac.ir/index.php/jrms/article/download/10770/5605</pdf_url>

<Journal><PublisherName></PublisherName><JournalTitle>Journal of Research in Medical Sciences</JournalTitle><Issn>1735-1995</Issn><Volume>23</Volume><Issue>3</Issue>
<Year>2018</Year><Month>03</Month><Day>19</Day>
</Journal>
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: MicroRNAs and exosomes as new diagnostic and therapeutic biomarkers
<FirstPage>10774</FirstPage><LastPage>10774</LastPage>
<AuthorList>

</AuthorList><History>
<Year>2018</Year><Month>03</Month><Day>18</Day>
</History>
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is known as a progressive lung disease and the fourth leading cause of death worldwide. Despite valuable e?orts, there is still no accurate diagnostic and prognostic tool for COPD. Hence, it seems that fnding new biomarkers could contribute to provide better therapeutic platforms for COPD patients. Among various biomarkers, microRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as new biomarkers for the prognosis and diagnosis of patients with COPD. It has been shown that deregulation of miRNAs targeting a variety of cellular and molecular pathways such as Notch, Wnt, hypoxia?inducible factor?1?, transforming growth factor, Kras, and Smad could be involved in COPD pathogenesis. Multiple lines of evidence have indicated that extracellular vesicles such as
exosomes could carry a variety of cargos (i.e., mRNAs, miRNAs, and roteins) which transfer various cellular and molecular signals to recipient cells. Here, we summarized various miRNAs which could be applied as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in the treatment of patients with COPD. Moreover, we highlighted the role of extracellular vesicles containing miRNAs as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in COPD patients.
<web_url>http://jrms.mui.ac.ir/index.php/jrms/article/view/10774</web_url><pdf_url>http://jrms.mui.ac.ir/index.php/jrms/article/download/10774/5609</pdf_url>

<Journal><PublisherName></PublisherName><JournalTitle>Journal of Research in Medical Sciences</JournalTitle><Issn>1735-1995</Issn><Volume>23</Volume><Issue>3</Issue>
<Year>2018</Year><Month>04</Month><Day>03</Day>
</Journal>
Misdiagnosis of spider bite in a 3?year?old child
<FirstPage>10775</FirstPage><LastPage>10775</LastPage>
<AuthorList>

</AuthorList><History>
<Year>2018</Year><Month>04</Month><Day>03</Day>
</History>
Abdominal pain is a common complaint among children with a vast di?erential diagnosis.
